Hi, I’m Kera Washington, co-owner and creative director of MeKer Beautique. I’ve been behind the chair since 2008, but my love for hair started long before that. I studied at Vogue Cosmetology in Austin, Texas, and got my first taste of high-fashion styling while assisting with stylists who worked for BET. That experience taught me how to merge creativity with precision, something I’ve carried with me ever since.

I began my career at ULTA in San Antonio, then spent six years at the Hair Clinic in Austin, where I mastered extensions, color, and healthy hair care. Over time, I realized my true passion was helping women not only look good but feel confident through intentional care and education.

In 2013, I co-founded MeKer Makeovers for weddings and special events, and a few years later, I launched MeKer Hair Extensions, using 100% virgin raw Indian hair. By 2020, I took a leap and opened MeKer Beautique a luxury salon built to feel warm, welcoming, and professional all at once.

Today, I work with a loyal clientele of business professionals and continue to study trichology to deepen my knowledge of hair and scalp health. I believe in creating beauty through healthy hair, confident women, and a thriving team. My mission is simple: elevate the salon experience while mentoring the next generation of stylists to lead with excellence, creativity, and heart.

Hi, I’m Meshell, hairstylist, makeup artist, and co-owner of MeKer Beautique. My journey in the beauty industry has been shaped by a love for creativity, connection, and helping people feel confident in their own skin.

It all began in 2013, when my business partner Kera and I started MeKer Makeovers, offering hair and makeup services for weddings and special events. What began as a shared passion soon turned into something bigger—a way to bring beauty, joy, and confidence to every client we worked with.

Wanting to deepen my skills, I attended the Aveda Institute in Austin, graduating in 2014 with a focus on both artistry and holistic hair care. Shortly after, I joined Breeze Salon and Day Spa, where I worked as an assistant and stylist. My time there taught me the importance of healthy hair, precision technique, and creating a personalized experience for each guest who sits in my chair.

In 2020, Kera and I opened MeKer Beautique—a space that brings together our years of experience and our shared vision for beauty that feels genuine and empowering. Today, I specialize in a range of services including custom color, precision cuts, hair extensions, and professional makeup, always with an emphasis on maintaining the health and integrity of the hair.

For me, beauty isn’t about trends or perfection—it’s about enhancing what’s already there and making sure every client leaves feeling like the best version of themselves.

Hi , my name is Shawdae ! I’m originally from Louisiana and I’ve lived in Atlanta for 13 years. I attended Aveda Institute Atlanta in 2013 and shortly after became a professional licensed cosmetologist in 2014 . I started my career as a shampoo assistant in a natural hair care salon where I learned most of my specialties such as natural hair care , locs , and protective styles . I opened a salon suite in 2016 named Glam’d by Dae Studio . Since then my focus has been on the integrity and strength of the natural hair and teaching my clients styles and techniques to maintain in between salon visits. While my main focus is natural hair and protective styles , I also offer services such as relaxers , color , custom wigs and much more . I’ve styled hair for weddings , special events and photo shoots .I moved to Texas and was introduced to Meker Beautique in 2023. Since then I’ve been the natural hair specialist here ready to build new clientele, spread the love , professionalism, and knowledge that I have . After over 10 years in this field my slogan is clear “healthy hair is a priority, not an option “! I look forward for a chance to take care of your hair care needs. See you soon ! 

 Hi ! My name is Kayla . I was born and raised in Austin, Texas. I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist for 5 years . I bring skill, creativity, and dedication to every client I serve. My specialties include thermal styling, hair extensions, and intricate braiding techniques. Whether you're looking for a sleek  polished look or a bold protective style I’m committed to enhancing your natural beauty while maintaining the health of your hair.
I’m known for attention to detail and warm professionalism. I take pride in creating styles that empower my clients and reflect their individuality. I love to stay current with the latest trends and techniques to ensure every appointment is a step toward confidence and self-expression.

I’m Annie Cokley, a proud Texas native with a deep passion for beauty, fashion, and community. For over two decades, I’ve dedicated my life to the art of hairstyling and the power of transformation. As a small business owner and experienced stylist, I’ve spent 20 years perfecting my craft—developing innovative techniques, providing exceptional client care, and building lasting relationships with those who trust me with their hair and confidence.

Beyond my work behind the chair, I’m also a licensed instructor who loves sharing knowledge and mentoring the next generation of beauty professionals. Teaching gives me a sense of purpose—it’s my way of giving back to the industry that has given me so much.

Over the past ten years, I’ve also embraced my creative side as a creative director, model coach, and event curator. Whether I’m organizing a fashion event, curating a photoshoot, or coaching models to bring out their best, I approach every project with vision, precision, and passion. These experiences have allowed me to merge artistry with leadership while helping others shine in their own light.

Community is at the heart of everything I do. As a community organizer and philanthropist, I’ve worked to uplift and support those in need through various initiatives. My advocacy for domestic violence survivors is especially close to my heart—raising awareness, providing resources, and standing beside those finding their strength again.

With a unique blend of creativity, compassion, and professionalism, I strive to make a meaningful impact—whether it’s in the salon, the classroom, or the community. My mission is to inspire, empower, and serve with excellence in everything I do.

I’ve been part of the MeKer Beautique team since 2015, and I take pride in helping create an exceptional experience for every client who walks through our doors. Before stepping into my role as Lead Assistant Stylist, I served as the lead receptionist at The Hair Clinic for five years, where I mastered client scheduling, coordination, and customer care.
Although I began beauty school and eventually took a different path, my passion for healthy hair never stopped growing. I continuously educate myself on proper techniques to ensure every client’s hair receives the attention it deserves—from safe blow-drying and thorough scalp cleansing to prepping flawless extension installs.
Reliability and attention to detail are my trademarks. I make it my mission to keep the salon running seamlessly, on time, and with a welcoming energy. Every day, I’m proud to play a part in bringing our salon’s vision to life and helping each client leave feeling confident and cared for.
